Localized Water Service Disruption and Boil Water Notice - July 3

Jul 02, 2024

UPDATE, July 9: The below work has been completed and the Boil Water Notice lifted. Thank you for your patience.

We would like to notify residents of a water service disruption planned for Wednesday, July 3, 9:00 AM to approximately 3:00 PM. This outage is necessary to replace the curbstop valve at 1889 Greywolf Drive, and will only affect the following addresses:

  • 1883, 1891, 1892 – Lot #1, Lot #2, Lot #5. 1893, 1896, 1900, 1901 Greywolf Drive

As a precautionary measure, a temporary Boil Water Notice will be in place for these residences from July 3  onwards, and until further notice. This precautionary Notice is being issued due to the risk of contamination when water systems are turned off and depressurized, which means the safety of the drinking water supply cannot be immediately ensured.

After this disruption, you may experience trapped air or discoloured water. Should this occur, try flushing your cold-water lines for 2-3 minutes. If conditions persist, please contact us.

Precautions During a Boil Water Notice

During a Boil Water Notice, tap water used for the following purposes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute prior to use.

  • Drinking and ice cubes
  • Liquids or food (e.g. tea or soup) that will not be boiled for at least one (1) minute
  • Washing fruits and vegetables being eaten raw
  • Brushing teeth or cleaning dental and medical appliances
  • Preparing baby food and infant formula
  • Bathing infants

Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing water. It’s recommended to sponge bathe infants if using tap water. Tap water may be used for dishes washed by machine but add bleach to water used for dishes washed by hand. Water used for other household purposes does not need to be boiled.

This Notice will be rescinded once the water has been demonstrated safe to drink. Please check this News & Notices page for updates. Should you have questions, please contact Bluestem Utilities Customer Care.
